A free update for Star Fox™ is now available for the Nintendo Switch™ 2 version of the game, adding new multiplayer content to the space combat title. The update, released September 29, 2026, is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.

The new Battle Mode supports up to four players in local split-screen play, with additional accessories potentially required and sold separately. The update also adds three stages—Katina, Sector X, and Venom—and allows up to four players on a single Nintendo Switch 2 system to team up for online battles.

Online features require a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a Nintendo Account, and internet access. Star Fox follows the conflict against Dr. Andross, the former Corneria Defense Force scientist who now commands forces from Venom in a campaign spanning space and planetary battles.
