Free update now available for Mario Kart

A free update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now available, adding several enhancements for players using the game on Nintendo Switch 2. The update enables split-screen racing for up to eight players on a single Nintendo Switch 2 system when enough controllers are available, with additional accessories potentially required for multiplayer play.

The update also adds CameraPlay support, allowing two to four players to use a compatible USB camera, sold separately, to display player video during races. CameraPlay can also be used online through GameChat, which requires an internet connection, a Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account, along with a compatible USB camera for video features.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also gains sharper visuals on the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs, alongside shorter load times. A Nintendo Switch 2 system with an internet connection is required to download the free update.
