Nintendo has designated Nov. 1 as “Pikmin Day,” marking the announcement during a Pikmin Day Direct presentation led by Pikmin creator Shigeru Miyamoto. The date was chosen because “11.1” resembles the original Red, Blue and Yellow Pikmin standing in a line.

The presentation highlighted Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, an enhanced release coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 12. New features include Dandori Academy timed challenges and weekend exams, in-game medals, and voice commands for Rescue Pup Oatchi using the Nintendo Switch 2 microphone, with nine supported commands. A free demo for Nintendo eShop was also announced, featuring the Sun-Speckled Terrace opening area and two Dandori Academy stages.

Nintendo also detailed a winter update for the free-to-start Pikmin Bloom smartphone app, adding cave exploration, creature encounters and in-game treasure collection, with special rewards available when linked to Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy. Two episodes of “Hello! Pikmin,” a new ongoing short movie series produced by Nintendo Pictures, are available through the Nintendo Today! app and other Nintendo channels. In addition, the Pikmin Ability Collection launched on Pikmin Day through Nintendo NEW YORK, Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO and the Nintendo Store.
