Nintendo’s Sept. 9 Nintendo Direct outlined a broad slate for Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, led by two new first-party titles: Metroid Ravenous, a 2D action-adventure starring Samus Aran, and Kirby and the World Beyond, a 3D adventure arriving in spring 2027 during Kirby’s 35th anniversary year. Metroid Ravenous launches for Nintendo Switch 2 on Jan. 28, 2027, with standard and special editions planned, plus Samus and Chozo Statue amiibo sold separately and a Samus (Metroid Suit) amiibo bundled with the special edition.

The presentation also detailed expanded Nintendo Switch 2 editions and updates for established franchises. Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy launches Nov. 12 with new voice-command features and staged Dandori Academy challenges, while existing Pikmin 4 owners on Nintendo Switch can purchase an upgrade pack; Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition follows on Feb. 25, 2027, with all Expansion Pass content, performance improvements and discounted digital upgrade eligibility for Nintendo Switch owners. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort launches Oct. 22, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches Dec. 3 with an upgrade pack for existing owners, and free updates for Mario Kart World and Star Fox were also announced, alongside Star Fox Adventures for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members through Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics.

Third-party highlights included Monster Hunter Wilds for Nintendo Switch 2 on Dec. 4, Final Fantasy VII Revelation on April 8, 2027, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on Feb. 12, 2027, and digital releases of Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition on Oct. 16. Other notable announcements included Persona 6, Persona 4 Revival for May 20, 2027, Mega Man: Dual Override in spring 2027, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered on Sept. 29, Professor Layton and the New World of Steam on Dec. 10, and several same-day Nintendo eShop items and demos, including Crisis Core –Final Fantasy VII– Reunion for Nintendo Switch 2, MECCHA CHAMELEON and demos for Cairn, Fading Echo and DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Withered World.
