Effective January 1, 2026, California SB 1215 expanded the definition of covered electronic devices to include certain battery-embedded products.

As a result, the following Nintendo products are classified as covered electronic devices and are subject to a covered battery-embedded waste recycling fee when sold to California consumers:

• HAC-001, HAC-001(-01): Nintendo Switch
• HEG-001: Nintendo Switch OLED
• HAC-015(L), HAC-016(R): Nintendo Switch Joy-Con
• HDH-001: Nintendo Switch Lite
• HAC-043: Nintendo Switch N64 Controller
• HAC-033(L), HAC-034(R): Nintendo Switch NES Controller
• HAC-042: Nintendo Switch SNES Controller
• HAC-045: SEGA Genesis Control Pad
• BEE-001: Nintendo Switch 2
• BEE-012(L), BEE-014(R): Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con
• BEE-008: Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller
• BEE-021: Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube Controller
